Christmas Stroll

America’s historic Main Street is still alive in the city of Sheridan, especially during the holiday season when the city hosts the Annual Christmas Stroll in the heart of the Historic Downtown district. Starting THE Friday after Thanksgiving, and continuing through Christmas Eve, the Stroll has grown in popularity and today attracts over 3,000 people for opening night festivities.

Sheridan’s Main Street district will be dressed in Christmas lights and decorated for the season. The Main Street thoroughfare is closed off as strollers enjoy a respite from the past and line up to ride old fashioned trolleys, horse-drawn wagons and vintage fire-trucks.

Entertainment and a fireworks display conclude the first evening’s events and of course Santa Clause greets children and young guests to hear their Christmas wishes. Other special activities include a performance of A Christmas Carol at the WYO Theatre on and the opening of the annual holiday art show at the Bradford Brinton Memorial and Museum.

If you are a winter visitor, a travel writer or editor who writes for family publications or covers special holiday events, you are invited to visit Sheridan to participate in this unique step back in time. You will be treated to the best that Sheridan has to offer, including museums, evening entertainment, fine dining, sightseeing and more. Sheridan is real Cowboy country, so all events have an authentic Old West flavor.

Sheridan’s holiday season sparkles with many other special events and activities. The Trail End State Historic Site will host a Holiday Open House. Ft. Phil Kearny offers a walking tour December 21, conducted by guides in period dress, includes weapons demonstrations, and refreshments.
