Kerri Sabine-Wolf‘s drawings and paintings of mans best friend has repeatedly returned to her own work. The subjects she depicts have always been ones close to her and her family. It comes from an adoration of her animals as well as an appreciation of the animal as a metaphor. She uses them as a vehicle for the study of shape, line and movement. Also, in her more narrative work, she has used the image of the dog to symbolize the power and control one may have over another individual. Whether defining shapes in quick charcoal studies or painstakingly rendering details in paint, it is apparent, the love she has for her subject and the act of transforming them into art. This makes for a fascinating show. Kerri Sabine-Wolf was raised and Educated in Orange County California where she still resides today with her husband and two children. Ms. Wolf earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University Fullerton and went on to get her Master Degree in painting from the Claremont University in 1992. The exhibition is on display from Thursday, January 26th through Wednesday, February 28th. Gallery hours are Thursday through Saturday 10am-4pm. The artist’s reception and talk will be on Thursday, February 16th from 5:00pm-7:00pm. It will be at the Sagebrush Community Art Center located in the historic train depot building at 201 E 5th street. The show and reception are open to the public and free of charge.
