SHERIDAN, WYOMING - VOTED #1 WESTERN TOWN IN AMERICA!
 
ITINERARY I
DAY 1:   Arrive in Sheridan to lodge at either of the newly renovated, full-service conventions centers, or multiple national franchise properties spending the evening at the pools, exercise rooms, smoke-free lounges and restaurants (3 1/2 hour drive from Yellowstone National Park coming from the west or Black Hills of South Dakota from the east): 
 
Take a narrated historic trolley tour of the community (charter a 2-hour tour or depending upon the number of travelers, or take the $1 1-hour tour, every hour-on-the-hour) and enjoy the best ice cream treats in Kendrick Park. Take a short walk or trolley ride to enjoy the elk and buffalo that call the park’s wildlife refuge home. 
 
Visit the Trail End State Historic Site, once the home of cowboy-turned-cattle-baron, John B. Kendrick, who became Wyoming’s governor and US Senator. Enjoying the Flemish-style architecture of this grand structure, with a rich ranching heritage.
 
Should you be in Sheridan on a Tuesday evening, attend a free concert in the park - bring a chair or blanket, and enjoy a picnic with a variety of offerings from vendors, dance or watch others partake and mingle with the large turnout of locals.
 
DAY 2:   ½ or 1-day Indian history tour by guides with great expertise on the area, whether from the Native American or Caucasian American view point
A. highlighting traditional and modern day life for the Northern Cheyenne, Crow or the Lakota, to amazing historic and the area’s cultural sites: The Little Bighorn, Fort Phil Kearny and the Fetterman Battle, The Wagon Box, the Medicine Wheel  
B. Include an evening with Native American singers, dancers and crafts, as well as traditional and modern Native American menus for indoor or outdoor catering.    OR
C. Little Bighorn Battlefield Horseback Rides - Experience the most famous stretch of land in the West on horseback, Custer’s Last Stand, seeing the terrain as the warriors and troopers saw that legendary day.
End the day with entertainment at the WYO or Carriage House Theaters, or movie theater depending on offerings.
 
DAY 3:  Morning spent at Bradford Brinton Memorial and Museum, the historic home and art gallery exhibit fine western art and the lifestyle of a 1920’s gentleman’s working ranch.  If not included in above tour with guide, also visit Ft. Phil Kearny, viewing the museum and remnants of the fort that precipitated the Battle of the Little Bighorn.
 
Lunch – Enjoy a lovely lunch at the Wyoming Rib and Chop House located at the Historic Sheridan Inn.
 
Afternoon, tour the Historic Sheridan Inn, home of the famous Buffalo Bill, and resident ghosts - a National Historic Landmark once known as the finest hotel west of the Mississippi and in Ripley’s Believe It or Not as the “House with 69 Gables”.  As well as exploring Don King's Western Museum where you can embrace unique cowboy memorabilia and Indian artifact collections, see tying of cowboy ropes, and shop unique gift selections at King’s Saddlery & Ropes, and a multitude of authentic western shops in the Historic District.
 
End the day with a lovely, fine dining experience . . .  And of course a visit to the Mint Bar a local hang-out with 100-year watering hole history, displaying the area’s western paraphernalia and wild game trophy décor.
 
DAY 4:   Golf Capital of Wyoming 
The Powder Horn  27-hole championship course, rated in GolfWeek's top 100 in the nation and 12th best residential course!   AND/OR 
 
Kendrick Golf Course, rated in the top 5 courses in Wyoming by Golf Digest magazine, located 3 miles west of town, with 18 holes, 6,800 yards and par 72 course,  AND/OR
 
Downtown Walking Tour, explore the 30 buildings on the National Historic Register via a self-guided tour with booklet in hand or guided tour for the personal touch.
 
Enjoy a unique lunch or supper at any of our dining establishments.
 
Experience the Sheridan County Museum as it presents our colorful cultures, commerce & characters, and is open into the evening. 
 
DAY 5:  Interested in outdoor activities year-round, enjoy a wide variety of recreational activities, including hiking, fishing, rock climbing, hang gliding, snowmobiling, or skiing – depending on the season. 
 
On weekends, stay to enjoy one of the 30 rodeo events throughout the summer, and should you be here in July you will enjoy the culmination of over 75 years at the Sheridan Wyo Rodeo’s week-long festivities.
 
Sundays, enjoy Polo at either of the venues - Big Horn Events Center, the oldest polo club west of the Mississippi, where you will stomp the divots, relax in the wide open spaces and take in world class polo, and Flying H Polo Club featuring "high-goal" polo games. Bring your chairs or blankets for sitting on the grass or in the back of pickup and enjoy an afternoon of polo.
  
Without guided tour above the Battle of Little Bighorn , located on I-90 70 miles from Sheridan, could easily be toured – 1-2 hour tour depending on levels of interest.

And then taking the SCENIC BY-Ways Sheridan is conveniently located adjacent to Interstate 90 in north central Wyoming, on historic routes midway between Yellowstone National Park and Mount Rushmore National Monument!  Scenic By-ways 14 meanders through the Big Horn Mountains from Sheridan to Yellowstone. Vehicle turnouts allow travelers to relax, enjoy abundant wildlife and world-class views.  Highways 14 & 14A beckon you into beautiful Shell Canyon with must-stops at the cascading falls and self-guided nature paths.  Highway 14A, 10% grade and accessible from May through October, provides incredible views, enlivened by moose in the wild and access to the sacred Medicine Wheel.  
 
Arriving in Cody to spend a day sight seeing and perhaps an evening to see their nightly rodeo, before heading into the Yellowstone National Park staying at the Historic Lodge and exploring the Park over a day or two.
