People will come back to the Sheridan area once they have visited, says Penny Becker, executive director of the city's Convention and Visitor's Bureau.
The CVB's goal is to get them here the first time.
The organization will have help this month when Sheridan is featured in a half-hour segment of "Distant Roads," a weekly broadcast that profiles an area as seen through the eyes of the recreational vehicle (RV) traveler.
The Sheridan program will be aired Aug. 19 on 12 television channels reaching around 250,000 people, including a large number in Canada and Florida.
Networks carrying the program include Outdoor Life Network, Channel 29, on Sheridan's cable.
Becker does not know the air times.
The program is scheduled to be aired 20 times over the next two years.
The program is produced by GPI of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Becker said director Angela Fong and camera man Pat Chapati spent two days in Sheridan last month conducting interviews and filming for the half-hour segment.
The finished program will include interviews at the Big Horn Mountain KOA Campground, the Bradford Brinton Circle A Ranch and the Historic Sheridan Inn and pieces on fly fishing, featuring Tom Wilcock from Fly Shop of the Big Horns, and rock climbing in the Tongue River Canyon with Kay Condos from Big Horn Mountain Sports.
Also included will be video shots of Sheridan's historic downtown, the Trail End State Historic Site and the area's golf courses.
Meals for Fong and Chapati were provided by Perkins, Pablo's, the Historic Sheridan Inn and Bubba's.
Becker said Fong and Chapati were excited about the Sheridan area.
"The numbers of Canadian visitors (here) are increasing -- and I understand the Florida market will be good, too," she said.
Becker is equally excited.
"We're always looking for this type of attention." she said.
Becker will receive a copy of the videotape some time after the program airs. She plans to make the tape available to local organizations after it arrives.
