This is a short summary of the article:
National Geographic Traveler strives to capture those places that every world traveler should see. In this 10 page feature article, author Priit Vesilind recalls memorable moments from his travels in the Wyoming-Montana region known as Big Horn Country. He and photographer Raymond Gehmen drove, hiked and rode on horseback to see some spectacular scenery and visit with some wonderful people.
Vesilind includes descriptions of historic places like the Sheridan Inn, where Buffalo Bill Cody auditioned acts for his Wild West Show, and the annual reenactment of the Battle of the Little Bighorn, where Col. George Custer met his doom, complete with drum corps and Crow and Lakota Indians in full dress. His visit also included a stop at the prehistoric and sacred Medicine Wheel, where Native Americans come and pray.
He includes interviews with "the locals" while stopping by some local eateries and a dude ranch, visiting King's Saddlery, and landing more than a dozen trout while wading upstream through pristine waters.
The article is accompanied by several full color photographs of the mountains, the cowboys, the wild horses, and the Western art that he found here.
