Fish Hatchery

Open year-round, the Story Fish Hatchery operated by the Wyoming Game & Fish Department is a perfect spot for a family outing or picnic. The visitor’s center is open April 15 through September 15 with many educational displays.

Admission is free, but be sure to bring a quarter and get a handful of feed that is of a special diet to feed the fish in the settling pond.  Lake trout hatchlings occur in April and May. Spawning is in October.

Picnic at the recreation area or fish Piney Creek just below the hatchery. To schedule a free tour staffed by a Game & Fish employee please call, 307-683-2242.
