Wildlife Viewing
If you are looking to enjoy some of Sheridan’s wildlife without having to drive too far, then we suggest you visit the following places. These places are in Sheridan or within a 20 minute drive from town. These are great stops if you are traveling with children.
The Wyoming Game and Fish Department Visitor Center
Located just off I-90 and the 5th Street interchange is the Game and Fish Visitor Center. The center’s goal is to increase the public’s awareness and interest in wildlife and conservation.
Kendrick Park
Adjacent to the park is a wildlife area which is home to a small herd of buffalo and elk Spring is a great time to view the newborn buffalo and elk. There are several areas along the fenced enclosure for taking photographs of these amazing creatures. The animals are for viewing only. Please do not feed them.
Wyoming Bird Farm
View ring-necked pheasants at this facility from May through September. Hatchlings can be seen in early May.

Story Fish Hatchery
Open year-round, the Story Fish Hatchery operated by the Wyoming Game & Fish Department is a perfect spot for a family outing or picnic. This is a wonderful place to learn about some of the fish that can be found throughout Wyoming’s lakes, streams and rivers. There is even a pond where guests can feed the fish. This is a real treat for children and adults.
