MuseumsMuseum at the Bighorns

Preserving and sharing the rich historical and cultural heritage of Sheridan County in order to promote a greater understanding of the American West.

Visit the Museum at the Bighorns and explore the history of the American West from a local perspective, through the eyes and ears of the men and women who settled Sheridan County. Coming from around the world, these hearty ranchers, railroaders, miners and soldiers built a future for themselves and their families in the shadows of the Bighorn Mountains. Discover their varied stories through the fascinating exhibits at the Museum of the Bighorns.

Children and their families are encouraged to come to the Museum from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. on the second Tuesday in June, July and August for the Museum’s children’s education program, Tidbit Tuesdays. From story telling on hides, to building a western town diorama and playing old time children’s games, Tidbit Tuesdays will give children and their families an opportunity to explore history together.

Located just off the 5th Street exit to Sheridan, the museum serves as the gateway for exploring historic downtown Sheridan and heritage sites around the region.
