Activities:

The Story Weihnachten Christmas Market is a typical outdoor German Christmas market, featuring traditional German  foods and beverages, arts and crafts vendors, music, Christmas carolers, children’s activities, lots of lights, and a  wonderful family-friendly festive atmosphere.

We will have 4 vendors areas, where our artisans and craftspeople will selling their arts, crafts, foods and beverages  starting at 3 pm.

(1) There is room for 10 vendors inside the Story Woman’s Club, which has been reserved and rented  for the event.

(2) Other vendors (mostly food) will set up outside around the perimeter of the Story Woman’s Club  parking lot (closed to vehicles for the day) with 4 picnic tables set up in the center, heated by  propane outdoor heaters as well as 4 covered fire pits. This will be the food court area.

(3) Across the street, at 45 N. Piney, a large 40’ x 40’ tent, with electric heat and lighting, will be set up  for additional vendors.

(4) The outdoor parking area at the Story Art Station will be used as a music venue for the Alphorn group as  well as outdoor craft vendors. There will hopefully be a big Christmas tree in the center of the  lot. We will not be using the interior of the Art Station building.

The fire pits used throughout the outdoor market will be covered and tended by volunteers from the Story Lion’s Club.

Children’s activities will take place inside the Grace Chapel Church, across the street from the Art Station. These  activities will include arts and craft projects, a puppet show, and refreshments. The Story Volunteer Fire and Rescue  will be having their own fund raiser, selling fresh cut Christmas trees and maybe even a visit from Santa, who will read  “The Night Before Christmas” to the children.

Music will be provided by The Alphorns at the Art Station, The Tuba Guys from Story, and strolling carolers, who will  sing at the Firehall, the Art Station, the Food Court at the Woman’s Club parking lot, and inside the craft market areas.  We are working on finding more authentic German style music for the event. Recorded German Christmas music will  be playing in the background when no live music is available.

Note:

1) We cannot block N. Piney Rd for pedestrian use only, however there is parking on either side of North Piney Rd.  We create a walking area using candle cones with lights along the line that designates parking on the Woman’s  Club side of the street and keep this area clear of snow and ice for pedestrians to walk through the market  venues. We will provide crossing guards in reflective vests to assist people crossing the street in designated areas.

2) We will provide 2 port-a-potties, one on each side of the street in the vendor areas. There are also restrooms  inside the Story Woman’s Club as well as another port-a-potty at the Story Store..

Activities not sponsored by the Story Days organization but will be taking place in conjunction with the event that  afternoon and evening are:

1) Christmas Tree Sales at the Story Volunteer Fire Department, across the street from the Art Station.  2) Bar at the Story Store, 30 North Piney Rd.

3) Hay rides offered for a donation by Renny Barbula (if weather permitting, horse drawn wagon, if icy she will use a  tractor to pull wagon).

This is a community building winter festival which is fast becoming a much loved tradition, providing a magical and  festive holiday spirit for the little community of Story, Wyoming.
