It’s time to get into the Christmas spirit by enjoying a few classic Wyoming holiday events. Sheridan’s festive attractions – from events to classes to parties to films – are the stuff Christmas dreams were made of. Celebrate with us this year as we showcase 10 things to do this season. 

1. Get Caught Shopping

Where: Sheridan Christmas Stroll Participating Businesses
When: December 7th, December 14th, and December 21st
What: Wear your Christmas Stroll Button to shop locally at participating businesses throughout Sheridan and “Get Caught Shopping” by Christmas elves to win chamber bucks in denominations of $25, $50, $100, or $250. Stroll buttons can be purchased for $5 at the Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce at 171 N. Main Street.

2. Tidbit: Old Fashion Christmas

Where: Sheridan County Museum, 850 Sibley Cir, Sheridan, WY
When: December 14th, 10am-11am
What: Join the Sheridan County Museum the morning of December 14th to learn about Christmas’s of the past. The morning begins with story time, followed by two festive activities including the decoration of a traditional Christmas orange and an old fashioned Christmas ornament.

3. Holly Jolly Holiday Film Series

Where:  WYO Theater, 42 N. Main St. Sheridan, WY
When: December 12 & 13, 6:30pm, December 14th, 2pm
What: Enjoy your favorite Christmas flicks in Sheridan’s beloved WYO Theater. Wear your favorite winter hat for the White Christmas Sing-Along, don your ugliest sweater for the showing of Elf and dress in your comfy PJs for the matinee showing of A Charlie Brown Christmas, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and Frosty the Snowman.

4. Winter Solstice Concert Featuring Sarah Sample

Where:  Bison Union Coffee, 171 N. Main St. Sheridan, WY
When: December 21st, 7pm -10pm
What: Come celebrate the winter solstice with a concert featuring Sarah Sample and special guests, Julie & Dave from The Two Tracks. The night will feature a mix of original music and a holiday sing along to close the night. Bring your holiday cheer and let’s deck the halls.

5. 7th Annual Ucross Christmas Celebration

Where:  Ucross Foundation, 30 Big Red Lane, Clearmont, WY
When: December 14th, 4pm
What: The small community of Ucross, once a large ranch, turned into an 20,000-acre artist retreat when the Ucross Foundation opened its doors in 1981 and has hosted 1,300 award-winning painters, printmakers, photographers, writers, composers and choreographers in their residency program. The 7th Annual Ucross Christmas Celebration will begin at 4:00 p.m sharp and continue through 6:00 p.m. culminating in the lighting of thousands of Christmas tree lights and a fireworks display by Bruce Burns. The celebration will include the reading of a Christmas story by bestselling author and Ucross neighbor Craig Johnson, Christmas carols by the Buffalo Balladiers, Music by Taylor Corum, crafts for children, festive refreshments, and much more.

6. A Munsick Family Christmas

Where: WYO Theater, 42 N. Main St., Sheridan, WY
When: December 20th, 7:30pm
What: Join the Munsick boys live at the WYO Theater on Sheridan’s Historic Main Street for an event that has become a Sheridan tradition – the traditionally non traditional way the Munsicks say Merry Christmas. It’s a celebration that will keep you smiling all throughout the new year. Whether you’re a new member or a veteran of their fan club, what you can expect from them is the unexpected – songs that range from hand forged originals and old favorites to newly discovered treasures.

7. Parade of Lights

Where: Buckhorn Travel Plaza, 723 E. US HWY 14, Ranchester, WY
When: December 14th, 7:30pm
What: The 2nd Annual Parade of Lights will roll down the streets of Ranchester on Saturday, December 14th at 7:30pm. Lights of different colors and sizes will adorn some of the most unique vehicles and floats in celebration of the Holiday Season.

8. 5th Annual Christmas Roll

Where: Sheridan Bicycle Company, 43 S. Main St. Sheridan, WY
When: December 14th, 4pm – 9pm
What: A bicycle poker run! This is the Bomber Mountain Cycling Club’s annual fundraiser.  A $10 buy in gets you into the game, with half the pot going to the winner while the other half will go to BMCC.  We will make our way around town receiving a card at each watering hole, a winner will be announced at our last stop. Meet at Sheridan Bicycle Co. around 4:00 to mingle and show off your decorated wheels and your best holiday attire, ride will depart at 4:30 sharp! This is a 21 and over event, waivers will be signed before leaving SBC, helmets and lights required!

9. Russian Christmas Cooking Class

Where: Verdello, 23 E. Grinnell Plaza, Sheridan, WY
When: December 19th, 5:30pm
What: Join Verdello & Chef Antonia for our Russian Christmas! Christmas will be like you’ve never had it before in Bonafide’s latest class, complete with traditional, heartwarming Russian dishes. Class price: $50/person. Ages 18+
Borscht – A beetroot soup, known for its distinctive red color.
Russian Peasant Entrée – Rosemary, nutmeg, beef and golden potato casserole.
Russian Purses (Kolaches) – A semisweet, tasty pastry that has fruit encased in a puffy dough. Plum, pistachio, date and walnut.

10. Christmas Eve with the Kendricks

Where: Trail End State Historic Site, 400 Clarendon Ave., Sheridan, WY
When: December 20th & 21st, 5:00pm
What: Step back in time to 1913, to see what the Kendrick family and their staff might have been doing on their first Christmas Eve spent in the newly finished home. The characters and script are based on real people – including family members and staff – and real events, from a Christmas Eve dance to a Christmas Day at the bowling alley! Groups of ten will be lead through the house every twenty minutes, stopping in six rooms to see how the holiday story unfolds.
