"> Not Just Another Film Festival - Sheridan, Wyoming Travel and Tourism

Explore Sheridan

Nestled at the foot of the beautiful Bighorn Mountains during the fall’s explosion of color, the Sheridan WYO Film Festival is a uniquely intimate setting to explore the best in film from around the globe. Seeking to become one of the best “small town” film festivals in the United States, SWFF provides a fun loving and intimate atmosphere that will see audience members leave with plenty of new connections, experiences and friends.

During the course of the festival weekend, festival goers can attend screenings of films of all shapes and sizes that not only showcase the filmmakers’ dedication to craft, but also a unique and artistic approach to telling a darn good story. Filmmakers are also on hand to take part in Q&A sessions with audiences after screenings, and ticket holders can even rub shoulders with the artists (both notable and up-and-coming) at special pre-screening mixers and after parties.

In addition to the more traditional film screening events, the Sheridan WYO Film Festival also showcases immersive story forms of all genres involving Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality in our “Virtual Reality Rodeo Arcade.” The Rodeo Arcade allows visitors of all ages a chance to experience the latest boundary-pushing works from some of the most innovative VR developers and filmmakers from around the world. Participants could very easily find themselves on patrol in the African Savanna, diving deep to witness the beauty of the Great Barrier Reef, or even skyrocketed into space to help an alien spacecraft pilot through an asteroid field…all while sitting in the safety of some of the region’s most beautiful and historic theaters.

If you find yourself needing to stretch your legs in between screenings, Sheridan’s historic downtown is home to dozens of unique shops, galleries, museums, restaurants, saloons and cafes for shopping and meeting with friends. Nearby scenic drives offer visitors a chance to get out to see some of the most beautiful views in the country and spot some wildlife and still be able to get back in time to catch each night’s special screenings and events. There’s truly something for everybody at the Sheridan WYO Film Festival.

The Sheridan WYO Film Festival takes place October 5th-7th, 2018 and is certainly not to be missed! Find out more information about the festival as it becomes available online at www.sheridanwyofilmfest.org.
